NewsWe are up and running again. March 31 2003
Over the last few months we have been having a few problems with our hosting service. In particular the Search Site. (rcaero.net/search) which has been only partially operational.

We have now found a great Hosting Service now and most of R/C Aero's content has been shifted across. We are in the process of tidying up loose ends.

One sad aspect of this is the discontinuation of the Forum. Due to lack of use and the endeavor to free up resources, we have decided to shut this down. It seems that us aeromodellers are more interested in building and flying than talking about it. Sorry!

Happy faceElectric flight comes of age. March 6 2002

Electric flight is truly coming of age – well, it is down at my local field(LDMFA).

After some initial resistance I have now decided to try out one of thesemodels. Now I’m not one for buying kits so my hunt was on to find a nice, simple electric flight model for my first try.

Where did I start? With R/CAERO SEARCH of course! I did a search by category under "Electric".

The site that caught my eye was ElectricR/C Aircraft. This site is run by Steve, a fellow Aussie. On his site thereis a vast selection of electric r/c model plans in a .dxf & .dwg format. These are formats commonly used by AutoCad but .dxf in particular is common tomost Cad Programs.

I selected a nifty little Speed 400 that is basically very similar to a 1/2apylon racer. Being a Pylon guy, I thought this would be a nice but simple modelto try. What ever your interst in electric flight, you should be able to find aplan on this site.

Happy Flying

AUSTRALIAN MINITURE PYLON RACING ASSOCIATION INC. June 22 2001
Well if you weren’t at Cohuna on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend for the AMPRA Champs you missed out on a great weekend. As you may notice the change of our President. I would like to thank Eddie Rich for time and help he has given over the past three years of being President.

I would like to congratulate Glenn Matthews on becoming our new President and hope that he does a really good job.

Terry and I arrived at the field on Friday morning at 11:00am, the field was in really good condition.

Typical Cohuna weather it was cold, but no rain. It was open practice and then came all the NSW guys it was really good to see them all again, we flew until 4:30 –5:00pm then went to the motel to check in.

Saturday morning we started with Q Midget and we had 15 entries and flew 7 heats everyone was doing really well, a few pilots doing there best times. Had a lunch break and I must say the ladies in the canteen really know how to put on a good meal. Then we got into the serious stuff, we had 21 entries in F3D and 7 in F400. We flew 2 rounds before ending the day. I must say it was very good to the Harrod brothers down from QLD and Mick Dallmann and his dad from Townsville, good to see that we get some outer Towner’s to come racing down in Victoria.

Sunday morning we woke up to a very foggy morning, drove out to the field and the fog was well set in, you could not see the No1 pylon. So we sat around and waited for it to lift. Still waiting……

We had lunch and finally the fog lifted at around 1:00pm and we were off and racing. All went reasonable well, and Brian Steele wining the event. And a BIG Congratulation to Marcus Guss wining in F400. Monday morning we flew Half A we had 12 entries and flew 7 rounds. It was a very cold morning the wind was very chilly, a lot of the pilots engines did not want to know about it, so a few of them pulled out. Overall it was a very good weekend the members of the Cohuna club always to a fantastic job and we always look forward into going back.

Well that enough from me I hope I haven’t bored you all see you at the next event.
